May 25, 2010 at 9:11 and 9:12pm our whole world as we knew it changed. Happy Birthday Mommy and Babies!
These were taken on our Birthday, we were born 8 weeks early and had a rough start. Our family's prayed and prayed that we would heal and grow to be healthy. The nurses would always say that little boys were wimpy but our boys were fighters!
Alexander Ryan 3#15oz and 15 1/2 inches long. He was such a little guy and took on the nickname of "little brother". He was the smallest and was born second. The nurses said that when he was born he came out screaming so loud they heard him down the hall!!! He had to have a little help with breathing from vapertherm but it wasn't just a few days later he was breathing on his own on room air!
Andrew Raleigh was 4#5oz and 16 1/2 inch long. He was larger than his brother but needed a little bit more help breathing. He was on a ventilator for a few days before moving on to the vapertherm and then on to the oxygen. "Big Brother" held onto his nasal cannula for what seemed like FOREVER! The nurses picked on him and said that it was his best friend.
This is Alex the night he was born.
This is Andrew the night he was born.
We continued to grow and learn to breathe and eat in the NICU for 6 weeks. Here are some of the photos of us changing in the NICU.
